What is a booking link?

A booking link is a public web page where other people pick a time to meet you from your real availability, without back-and-forth email. It reads your calendar to hide busy times, applies your rules for meeting length, buffers and notice, and on booking adds the event to both calendars, often with a video link.

Also called: Scheduling link, booking page, meeting link

Booking link, explained

Arranging a meeting by email takes, on average, several messages and a day or two. A booking link reduces it to one: you send a URL, the other person picks a slot, and the meeting exists. For sales calls, interviews, client check-ins and office hours, that difference adds up.

Behind the page is a set of rules. Which meeting lengths are offered. Buffers before and after, so meetings do not run back to back. Minimum notice, so nobody books you for ten minutes from now. How far ahead people may book. A daily cap on bookings. Questions to ask the person booking. The page then reads your connected calendars and shows only slots that fit both the rules and your free time.

When someone books, the event is written to your calendar and an invitation goes to the guest, usually with a video meeting link. Good tools also let the guest reschedule or cancel from the confirmation, and handle time zones automatically, showing slots in the guest's local time.

A booking link is only as good as the calendar it reads. If an event exists in a calendar the tool cannot see, it will offer that time anyway, so connect every calendar you actually use.

For example, a founder's link offers 15 or 30 minute calls with a 10 minute buffer after each, at least 4 hours' notice and up to two weeks ahead, and asks "What would you like to cover?" A prospect picks Thursday at 15:00 their time, and both calendars get the event with a meeting link.

How it works in Atrix

Atrix booking pages live at a public /book/ address you choose. Each sets offered durations, buffers before and after, minimum notice (4 hours by default), how far ahead people can book (30 days by default), an optional daily cap, custom questions, and whether to add a Google Meet link. Availability comes from the Atrix calendar, which syncs with Google and Outlook.
