Flat pricing vs per-seat pricing: what is the difference?
Per-seat pricing charges for each user, so the bill grows with every person you add. Flat pricing charges one price for the plan, usually with a set number of seats or usage included, so adding a teammate within the plan costs nothing. Per-seat suits large teams with uneven usage; flat pricing suits small, growing ones.

Flat pricing vs per-seat pricing, explained
Per-seat, also called per-user, is the default for most business software: a price per person per month, with a minimum or tiers. It is easy to understand and scales with the customer. Its downside shows up in small teams. Every new hire, contractor or occasional collaborator is a new line on the bill, so teams start sharing logins or leaving people out, which defeats the point of a shared tool.
Flat pricing charges for the plan instead of the person. A plan includes a number of seats, or unlimited seats, and sometimes an allowance of usage such as projects, storage or AI runs. The bill is predictable, and inviting someone does not need a budget conversation. The trade-off is that a very small team may pay for capacity it does not use, and a team that outgrows the plan takes a bigger step up.
Many products mix the two: a flat platform fee plus per-seat charges above a threshold, or per-seat pricing with free read-only guests. AI features add a third axis, because AI costs the vendor money per use, so plans often include a usage allowance alongside seats.
To compare fairly, price the whole team you will have in a year, not today's headcount, and include add-ons such as AI. A per-seat price that looks cheap per person can cost more than a flat plan once the team doubles.
For example, a six-person team compares a tool at $12 per user a month ($72) with a flat $49 plan covering ten seats. Today the flat plan is cheaper. If the team grows to ten, per-seat costs $120 while the flat plan still costs $49.
How it works in Atrix
Atrix AI uses flat plans. Builder is $39 a month for 5 seats and 100 AI runs; Studio is $149 a month for 15 seats and 500 runs. Paying yearly costs $374 and $1,430, 20% less. There is no free plan; Builder starts with a 7-day trial with a card. Founding teams who subscribe before 31 December 2026 keep unlimited seats.
